About the Role This role is essential in maintaining a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors. This is a varied, hands‑on position combining practical maintenance work with administrative and compliance responsibilities. The successful applicant will be self‑managing, organised, and comfortable working in a school setting alongside children and staff. Key Responsibilities General maintenance and minor repairs to buildings and grounds Ensuring the school site is safe, compliant, tidy, and well presented Supporting and working alongside a part time apprentice Carrying out administrative tasks related to property and maintenance Managing compliance requirements (e.g. health & safety, contractor records, inspections) Assisting with risk management, including identifying hazards and maintaining registers Keeping accurate records and documentation Communicating effectively with staff, leadership, and contractors Planning, prioritising, and managing your own workload Liaising with our Project Manager and the Ministry of Education regarding property matters About You Enjoy working in a school environment and like working with children A practical and capable handyperson Organised, proactive, and able to self‑manage Confident handling basic administration and compliance tasks Understanding of health and safety and risk management principles Clear communicator with a positive, reliable attitude Willing to guide and support an apprentice Computer literate with the capability to communicate using a computer for emails and reporting What We Offer A friendly and supportive school community Delightful children Varied and meaningful work The opportunity to make a real difference in a school environment To apply: Please send your CV and a brief cover letter to the principal, Megan Clotworthy, email address: meganc@rops.school.nz
