Seasonal Summer Camp Counselor Opportunities @ Camp Ironwood in Eureka, Missouri
Camp Ironwood is hiring 30-40 group/activity/operations/office personell to join in the summer camp magic!

Camp Ironwood's mission is to bring high-quality summer camp programming to underserved and most deserving communities. We partner with several charter school organizations around the country to give kids a thoguthful and intentional opportunity. Our mission is to increase kids confidence, curiosity, independence, and responsibility. All while outdoors and screen-free.

Positions Available: Group Counselor, Activity Counselors, Office/Operations Team.

Duties

  • Supervise and engage children in a variety of camp activities, ensuring safety and enjoyment at all times
  • Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote learning, creativity, and teamwork
  • Manage group behavior through effective behavior management techniques
  • Provide first aid when necessary, following proper protocols to ensure camper safety
  • Support children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance by applying inclusive teaching strategies
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to organize events, performances, or sports competitions that enhance the camp experience
  • Uphold camp policies related to childcare, early childhood education, and maintaining a respectful and nurturing environment

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, babysitting, or summer camps is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
  • Certifications in first aid and CPR are preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified
  • Strong classroom management skills coupled with effective behavior management techniques
  • Background in teaching, special education, theater, sports coaching or related fields is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with children of diverse backgrounds
  • Enthusiastic attitude with a passion for working with students and fostering their growth in a fun-filled environment

Pay scale and benfits below

  • Educator - teachers, coaches, caregivers, after-school specialists
  • $4,000 stipend
  • 5 weeks | June 14 – July 18, 2026 - includes one week of orientation
  • College age counselor - little to no experience with children
  • $2500 stipend
  • 5 weeks | June 14 – July 19, 2026 - includes one week of orientation
