Commercial Construction Estimator
Camm Construction
Help Us Win the Right Work — And Build the Future of Camm.
Camm Construction is growing, and we are looking for a strong Commercial Construction Estimator who wants to be part of a team that is building momentum the right way.
We are not a massive corporate contractor where estimators are buried in layers of management and disconnected from operations. At Camm, estimators are a critical part of the team — directly influencing project success, profitability, and company growth.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is competitive and wants to win
- Takes pride in putting together strong, accurate, strategic bids
- Understands the balance between winning work and protecting margin
- Works well with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and leadership
- Wants to help improve systems, processes, and bid performance as the company grows
This role is ideal for an estimator who is looking for:
- More impact and visibility
- A growing company with opportunity ahead
- A collaborative team environment
- Less bureaucracy and more real involvement in the work
- The ability to help shape how preconstruction and estimating are done
Our focus continues to grow in:
- Commercial interiors & tenant improvements
- Healthcare construction
- Renovation and occupied-space projects
- Repeat-client and negotiated opportunities
We are building a stronger preconstruction process, improving operational alignment, and creating a company positioned for long-term growth. The right estimator will play a major role in that future.
What You'll Do
As our Estimator, you will lead the front-end estimating and preconstruction process for commercial construction projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and bid proposals
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Solicit and manage subcontractor/vendor pricing
- Scope trades and identify gaps or risk areas
- Participate in project handoff and kickoff meetings with PMs and Superintendents
- Help create realistic schedules, procurement plans, and buyout strategies
- Track estimate vs actual trends to improve future accuracy
- Support bid strategy discussions with leadership
- Help improve bid quality, efficiency, and hit rate
What We're Looking For
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
- Experience in:
- Healthcare construction
- TI / commercial interiors
- Renovation projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents confidently
- Strong understanding of:
- Labor and material pricing
- Means and methods
- Scope development
- Project risk analysis
- Experience with estimating software and Excel
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Bonus Points
- Existing subcontractor relationships
- Preconstruction/client-facing experience
- Design-build or negotiated work experience
- Ability to think operationally beyond estimating
The Kind of Person That Fits Here
The right fit for this role is someone who:
- Is detail-oriented and highly organized
- Communicates well with both field and office teams
- Enjoys working collaboratively instead of in silos
- Can move quickly without sacrificing accuracy
- Takes ownership of their work
- Wants to continuously improve processes and results
- Has the mindset of helping the company succeed, not just completing bids
