We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused IT Inventory and Support Clerk to join our IT operations team. This position serves as the first point of contact for staff, vendors, and visitors entering the IT area while supporting critical inventory, shipping, and administrative functions. Responsibilities include preparing and tracking outbound shipments, receiving and verifying incoming IT equipment, assisting with inventory management and asset tracking in ServiceNow, monitoring access to secure IT areas, and supporting equipment staging and distribution activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong time management, attention to detail, professionalism, and communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft 365 and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Experience with shipping coordination, inventory processes, customer service, and IT asset handling is highly desirable.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Shipping and Receiving:

Prepare shipping labels, coordinate carrier pickups, and ensure timely outbound shipments of IT equipment and materials. Receive all incoming IT-related deliveries, verify contents against packing slips, and inspect items for accuracy and damage

Reception and Access Monitoring:

Serve as the first point of contact at the IT reception desk, greeting visitors, vendors, and staff professionally. Monitor door security cameras and control access to secure IT areas in accordance with agency policy. Verify credentials and ensure proper sign-in procedures are followed.

Inventory Management:

Assist the IT Inventory Management Specialist II in logging all received IT equipment into the ServiceNow system, including serial numbers, asset tags, and relevant metadata. Ensure accurate categorization and documentation of assets.

Asset Handling and Staging:

Assist the IT Inventory Management Specialist II with unpacking and tagging equipment, organizing hardware in designated staging areas, and preparing items for distribution or installation. Ensure equipment is stored securely and in accordance with inventory procedures.


Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Assignments are given verbally and/or in writing with specific details on desired outcome. Tasks are performed with some latitude in determining work methods and procedures. Work is checked for results achieved.


Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Licensing & Certification:
    • Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
    • Troubleshooting and logical thought processes
    • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
    • Exemplary interpersonal skills
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
    • Experience in Asset Management
    • Knowledge of inventory management systems, license management tools, or IT service management (ITSM)
    • Knowledge of tracking software license agreements
    • Knowledge with the acquisition and disposal of IT assets
    • Understanding of IT concepts such as computer hardware, software, and networking technologies
