Position Overview

Berean is seeking a part-time Children’s Discipleship Coordinator (10–15 hours/week) to help lead ministry to children (birth–5th grade) and support their families.

This leader will create safe, simple, and gospel-centered environments where children can begin to know, love, and follow Jesus, while equipping volunteers and partnering with parents.

This is a supported, team-based role—not a solo ministry.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sunday & Ministry Environments

  • Coordinate nursery and children’s ministry on Sundays
  • Ensure safe, welcoming, and well-prepared classrooms
  • Implement The Gospel Project curriculum for ages nursery-fifth grade

2. Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, schedule, and support a team of volunteers
  • Provide clear communication and simple training
  • Foster a healthy, encouraging team culture

3. Parent Communication

  • Communicate regularly with families (updates, schedules, resources)
  • Encourage parents in their role as primary disciplers

4. Administration

  • Maintain schedules, classroom needs, and basic ministry organization
  • Track children’s ministry expenses and receipts within approved budget
  • Utilize basic digital tools and technology for communication and planning

5. Team Collaboration

  • Work with pastoral staff and student ministry to align discipleship across ages
  • Participate in occasional church-wide events as needed

Desired Qualifications

1. Calling & Character

  • A growing relationship with Jesus marked by humility and integrity
  • A heart for children and their spiritual formation

2. Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with or teaching children (church, school, or similar setting)
  • Ability to organize, communicate, and follow through reliably
  • Comfortable using technology (email, planning tools, basic digital systems)

3. Theological Alignment

  • Agreement with Berean Baptist Church’s doctrinal statement
  • Theological or ministry training is a plus, not required

Reporting & Relationships

  • Reports to Associate Pastor
  • Works alongside staff and volunteers—this role is not expected to carry ministry alone
  • Systems, curriculum, and vision are provided; this role focuses on implementation and coordination

Compensation & Hours

  • Part-time: approximately 10–15 hours/week.
  • Compensation based on experience
