Job Title: Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Position Summary:
Moncks Corner Water Works is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. This position is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and associated collection system pump stations to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and safe, efficient system performance.

Pay Range:
$18.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience and current licensing level

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Participation in an established on-call rotation is required. Position may be subject to after-hours, weekend, and emergency work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to obtain a South Carolina D-Level Wastewater Treatment Operator License within 18 months of employment
• High school diploma or equivalent

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor biological wastewater treatment processes to ensure proper system performance
• Collect samples and perform routine laboratory testing as required
• Maintain and adjust treatment equipment, including pumps, blowers, and chemical feed systems
• Inspect, operate, and maintain sanitary sewer pump stations within the collection system
• Respond to alarms, system malfunctions, and emergency situations
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on plant and pump station equipment
• Maintain accurate operational logs and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations
• Operate equipment and tools safely and effectively
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of biological wastewater treatment processes preferred
• Ability to perform laboratory testing and interpret results
• Ability to operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, and machinery
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying environmental conditions
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
