ABOUT LITTLE LEGACY VILLAGE PRESCHOOL

Featured in The New York Times, Little Legacy Village Preschool is a mission-driven, community-rooted early childhood program serving families in Harlem, NY. Founded by Harlem native Erica Forte, LLVP provides a nurturing, dual-language, child-centered Pre-K education grounded in five core values: Community, Opportunity, Innovation, Joy, and Gratitude.

ABOUT THE ROLE

LLVP is opening its second Harlem location -- a Pre-K facility serving approximately 50 students across 4 classrooms. We are seeking an experienced, passionate Education Director to launch and lead this new campus. The Education Director will build the educational team, implement LLVP's child-centered curriculum, and ensure that every child receives the high-quality, joyful, enriching experience that has made LLVP a trusted name in Harlem early childhood education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Educational Leadership

  • Implement and adapt LLVP's child-centered, dual-language curriculum across all 4 classrooms (Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4).
  • Ensure curriculum incorporates LLVP's signature programming: Spanish language introduction, music, art, yoga, and nature-based learning.
  • Drive a culture of active listening, self-led learning, and joyful discovery throughout the facility. Stay current on early childhood education research and best practices; bring new ideas to enhance programming.

Staff Management & Development

  • Hire, onboard, coach, and evaluate all classroom teachers and assistants (~8-12 teaching staff). Conduct regular classroom observations and provide meaningful instructional feedback. Lead staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team-building activities.
  • Manage scheduling, coverage, and daily staff operations.

Student & Family Engagement

  • Build a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community for students and families.
  • Oversee individualized student assessments, progress monitoring, and family conferences. Communicate regularly with families on student progress, classroom activities, and school events. Respond to family concerns promptly and with care.

  • Represent LLVP's second facility positively within the local Harlem community.
  • Participate in enrollment outreach and school events as needed.
  • Collaborate with the original LLVP site to ensure programmatic consistency across both campuses.
