Since 2008, Hot Bread Kitchen has empowered New Yorkers who face barriers to economic opportunities through transformative careers in New York City’s food industry. We offer small business development programs, culinary skills training, and job placement, bolstered by individualized, wraparound supportive services. Our small business program, HBK Incubates, supports entrepreneurs as they transform their food businesses into sustainable income sources. Culinary Fundamentals, our award-winning culinary training program, provides access to high-quality jobs for those starting their careers in the food industry. Our upskilling programs enable incumbent workers to gain further skills, leading to higher wages and career advancement. We work diligently alongside our network of over 200 food employer partners and more than 250 nonprofit and government partners to ensure our graduates are set up for success both at home and in their careers.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Hot Bread Kitchen seeks a highly motivated and resourceful part-time Case Manager who will provide direct support services to members of Hot Bread Kitchen’s Culinary Fundamentals Program located at Chelsea Market. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of social work practices and a passion for client facing work. This position will be integral to the culinary instruction team, providing on-site case management services ensuring Hot Bread Kitchen members have the resources and tools to meaningfully participate and successfully complete the program. This position is a temporary, part-time position with day time hours and will be based at our headquarters at Chelsea Market. This position reports to the Member Engagement Manager (AM).
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Case Manager will be responsible for:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong passion for Hot Bread Kitchen’s mission.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or human services preferred.
Must have direct service experience or 1-3 years experience in case management.
Experience in working with and supporting diverse populations.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with all types of personalities and leadership levels.
Ability to work flexibly, independently and diligently with efficient organization skills and attention to detail.
Must have some facilitation experience, preferably for teaching soft skills or professional readiness.
Computer proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace Suite.
Ability to think and problem solve creatively.
Other language proficiency is a plus! (French, Bengali, Arabic, Spanish)
Familiarity with navigating NYC’s support systems (affordable housing, childcare, mental health, public benefits, etc.).

Location and hours
This position requires regular in-person attendance at our headquarters at Chelsea Market starting June 1, 2026. The work hours are generally 9:00am-3:00pm, three days per week for a twelve-week period. Work hours are subject to change based on program needs.
Compensation
This is a 12-week position (20 hours per week, generally from 9:00am-3:00pm). The compensation will be $30.75 an hour. As a temporary employee, this role is eligible for limited benefits as required by law, including paid prenatal leave, sick leave, and short-term disability, where applicable. This role is ineligible for healthcare benefits and holiday pay.
