ASSISTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

We are looking for a candidate to build relationships with staff and students, collaborate with families, and effectively work with district administration. This position will partner with administrators, teachers, families and students in resolving student attendance and behavioral problems of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. They will also provide leadership in curriculum & instruction, as well as in professional staff development. This position shares responsibility with the activity director and middle school principal to organize and supervise all major events and programs in the school.
Required:
Master's degree or enrolled in a Master's degree program in administration and supervision.
- At least five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher or administrator
- Must hold a current Administrator License or obtain a conditional prior to starting
- Holds an evaluator approval certification

- Previous experience in similar position or other building leadership roles
- Experience leading and managing professional learning communities
- Expertise in leading professional development
- Demonstrated instructional leadership skills
- Experience in teaching and leading in a system with standards referenced grading
- Strong skills working with a wide variety of student needs and behaviors
INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the Middle School Principal with student registration and scheduling procedures.
- Assists in the preparation and distribution of the student handbook.
- Coordinates, with the Middle School Principal, the new student orientation program for grades 5-8.
- Shares responsibility with the principal for leading and managing professional learning communities.
- Coordinates the Special Education Program for grades 5-8.
- Assists the Middle School Principal in ensuring the district's MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports) is enacted with fidelity.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts staff evaluation under direction of middle school principal.
- Remains abreast of educational developments by maintaining professional memberships and contacts.
- Assists the principal in staff assignments.
- Shares responsibility with the principal for leading professional development.
- Represents the Boone Community School at Conference, District, State and National meetings as directed by the principal.
BUILDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes duties of the Principal in the absence of the principal.
- Responsible for student attendance, attendance office and attendance procedures for grades 5-8.
- Handles student referrals and discipline for grades 5-8.
- Develops and implements study hall procedures for grades 5-8.
- Coordinates referrals of students to outside agencies for grades 5-8.
- Develops community contacts and works with community organizations.
- implements student visitor procedures for grades 5-8.
- Develops and monitors building disaster procedures.
- Coordinates the services of the School Resource Officer.
Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building Principal.
