Intervention for Peace is a dedicated provider of support services for individuals with developmental disabilities in the Medina, Ohio area. Founded in 1994, we help individuals live complete, independent, and fulfilling lives through person-centered support, community integration, and daily living assistance. Position Summary As a Direct Support Professional (DSP):
You will provide compassionate, respectful, and individualized support to adults with developmental disabilities. You will assist participants in achieving their personal goals, developing life skills, and participating fully in their communities. This role emphasizes empowerment, safety, and building meaningful relationships while promoting independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, medication reminders (as trained), and household tasks.
- Support individuals in community activities, such as shopping, appointments, recreational outings, and social events to promote inclusion and independence.
- Assist with skill-building in areas like money management, communication, social skills, and use of adaptive equipment.
- Implement and document Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and person-centered goals.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment while ensuring health, safety, and well-being of individuals served.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and daily logs per agency and regulatory standards (e.g., DODD requirements in Ohio).
- Advocate for the rights and preferences of individuals served.
- Collaborate with team members, families, and other professionals to provide consistent, high-quality support.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required—we provide comprehensive training.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement may apply).
- Ability to pass a BCI/FBI criminal background check and drug screening.
- Basic computer/smartphone skills for documentation.
- Strong communication, patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or varied shifts as needed.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
