Job Description
Senior International Student Advisor will serve as Designated School Official (DSO) who will use knowledge of federal F-1 immigration regulations to independently advise and educate international students, dependents, and academic departments on matters directly related to federal immigration regulations. Senior International Student Advisor will exercise considerable independent judgement and discretion when officially representing MNSU, Mankato to the Department of Homeland Security (SEVP, USCIS, CBP, etc.) and the Department of State. Help formulate, implement, and maintain institutional policies, business procedures, and information systems that relate to F-1 international students. Senior International Student Advisor will also make independent decisions when advising on academic support resources, adjustment issues, personal and family concerns, and emergency situations. They develop, conduct, and evaluate educational presentations, workshops, programs, and activities related to immigration regulations and cultural adjustment. Senior International Student Advisor also assist with orientation and Kearney International Center (KIC) events and programs. Position will participate in weekly meetings to ensure KIC advising team is cohesive with advising techniques, up to date on university policies, and maintaining a strong understanding in current immigration regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
OR,
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience as a Designated School Official.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Federal regulations relating to F holders (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
