The Professional Division of Spherion Mid-Ohio is partnered with a vital and mission-driven nonprofit organization in Richland County, Ohio seeking an Executive Director. Salary is up to $85K based on background and experience.

The Executive Director- serves as the operational and strategic leader of the organization, overseeing daily operations, crisis response leadership, shelter operations, staff leadership, compliance, community partnerships, funding initiatives, and long-term organizational direction while ensuring critical services continue to meet the growing needs of the community.

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership opportunity within an organization providing life-saving services in a fast-paced, high-demand environment rooted in trauma-informed care. The organization serves more than 400 survivors annually and responds to over 500 crisis hotline calls each year, often operating at or near full capacity. The Executive Director must be comfortable leading daily operations while managing competing priorities, improving systems and processes, supporting staff, and guiding the organization through continued growth and development.

The organization operates within a trauma-informed care culture, requiring leadership that understands the impact trauma has on survivors, children, staff, and community systems. This role requires calm, consistent leadership within emotionally demanding situations while supporting teams that regularly respond to crisis situations and complex survivor needs.

Responsibilities of the Executive Director:
  • Provide leadership and oversight in the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of organizational operations, programs, shelter services, and crisis response efforts.
  • Lead, support, and develop a multidisciplinary team while fostering collaboration, accountability, staff well-being, and a trauma-informed care culture throughout the organization.
  • Provide operational leadership, crisis response support, decision-making guidance, prioritization, and barrier removal for staff in a high-demand environment.
  • Supervise leadership and staff responsible for shelter operations, advocacy services, crisis response, and survivor support functions while providing ongoing direction and support.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, staff development, coaching, and performance management processes.
  • Continue implementation and improvement of operational systems, documentation processes, electronic records systems, and organizational workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, reporting standards, policies, procedures, and strict confidentiality requirements that exceed traditional HIPAA standards.
  • Assist with development and implementation of strategic planning initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets, financial oversight, grant monitoring, and resource allocation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors by preparing meeting materials, providing operational insight, and assisting with strategic decision-making.
  • Cultivate relationships with community leaders, partner agencies, foundations, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and stakeholders throughout the region.
  • Represent the organization positively within the community while increasing visibility, awareness, and support of the mission.
  • Work closely with grant writers, development efforts, and funding partners to strengthen organizational sustainability and future growth opportunities.
  • Support ongoing facility improvements, policy implementation, and program development initiatives.
  • Ensure services remain survivor-centered, trauma-informed, confidential, and aligned with the mission of the organization.

Qualifications of the Executive Director:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Nonprofit Leadership, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of nonprofit leadership, operational leadership, shelter operations, crisis response, or executive management experience.
  • Experience supervising teams within shelter operations, crisis response, behavioral health, advocacy, or trauma-informed service environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading teams, managing budgets, and overseeing organizational operations required.
  • Experience with grants, compliance, funding management, or nonprofit financial oversight strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and the ability to lead within emotionally demanding service environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, crisis management, and decision-making abilities required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Experience improving systems, processes, and organizational operations preferred.
  • Passion for mission-driven work and supporting vulnerable populations required.
