GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The law director is responsible for providing both legal advice and legal support to the city council, city manager, city departments, the various boards, commissions, and committees of the city in all aspects of municipal law. The Law Director will also serve as the primary prosecutor in the Sidney Municipal Court, dealing with misdemeanor complaint/citations issues by the Sidney Police Department as well as other law enforcement agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree and qualification to practice law in the state of Ohio, admission to and a member in good standing of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association; minimum of ten (10) years’ of progressively responsible work experience in municipal law; minimum of two (2) years of criminal prosecution and/or litigation experience, prior experience in criminal and civil trials and prior experience appearing before state administrative bodies is preferred or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio.
