Ubuntu Linux Engineer - INTL India

Job Description

In this role, you will support, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux systems across both production and development environments, ensuring high availability and performance for critical workloads. You'll assist with system provisioning, configuration, and ongoing lifecycle management, while proactively monitoring performance, capacity, and system health to respond quickly to incidents and outages. The position involves close collaboration with engineering and quantitative teams to support compute-intensive research and trading use cases, as well as automating operational tasks through scripting and configuration management tools. You'll contribute to patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation efforts, maintain clear documentation and operational runbooks, and participate in an on-call rotation appropriate to your level.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field

• 1-4 years of professional experience administering Ubuntu Linux systems and ZFS

• Strong Linux fundamentals:

? Processes, memory, CPU

? Filesystems

? Networking

? systemd, cron, logging, package management (apt)

• Shell scripting experience (Bash)

• Familiarity with:

? SSH

? DNS

? TCP/IP networking

• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Datadog)

• Ability to troubleshoot production issues in time-constrained environments

• Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset

Commitment to the highest ethical standards - Experience supporting research and trading workloads

• Exposure to modern cloud architectures

• Experience working in financial services / hedge fund environments

Familiarity with open-source tooling and automation frameworks
