Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient)
Job Description
A pharmacy technician assists pharmacists in various support activities and procedures involved in dispensing medical prescriptions. They gather, input, and double-check prescription, refill, and patient information, as well as receive and organize incoming supplies. Additionally, they might prepare labels and routine prepacked orders, and potentially handle certain clerical tasks related to the department.
Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in dispensing medical prescriptions.
Gather, input, and verify prescription, refill, and patient information.
Receive and organize incoming supplies.
Prepare labels and routine prepacked orders.
Interact with a diverse patient population including transplant, sickle cell, pediatrics, internal medicine, and employees.
Rotate through different pharmacy stations such as register, filling, input, insurance/prior authorizations, and call center.
Support various hospital clinics such as the OR, vaccine clinic, and mail order.
Handle high volume of prescriptions, approximately 1200 scripts per day.
Essential Skills
Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT).
Pharmacy technician license.
1-2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
Inpatient experience.
SC State license with BOP.
Experience in retail pharmacy, inventory, data entry, insurance, and prior authorization.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
PTCB highly preferred and must be active after 6 months of employment.
Good communication and great customer service skills are non-negotiable.
Experience in customer service or related fields is beneficial.
Hardworking and able to take initiative.
Good teamwork and collaboration abilities.
Work Environment
The position is within an outpatient pharmacy located in a hospital setting. The team consists of 50 members, including pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians. It is a fast-paced environment where technicians are on their feet all day and must be comfortable interacting with patients face-to-face. No prior experience with software like Epic and Willow Ambulatory is required as training will be provided on the job.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
