Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Rochester, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Local Candidate Pay: $2,000 – $2,400/week
- Traveler Candidate Pay: $2,400 – $2,800/week
Compensation based on experience and eligibility
We are seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to provide high-quality radiation therapy treatments within an acute care oncology setting. The Radiation Therapist will collaborate closely with oncologists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, accurate, and patient-centered treatment plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in radiation therapy procedures, imaging systems, and treatment delivery while maintaining compassionate patient care and safety standards.
- Administer individualized radiation therapy treatments according to prescribed treatment plans
- Explain treatment procedures to patients and address questions or concerns regarding therapy and side effects
- Utilize imaging and treatment equipment to ensure precise radiation delivery
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and report concerns or complications to the oncology team
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families throughout the treatment process
- Assist with treatment planning and recommend modifications based on patient progress when appropriate
- Perform quality assurance checks and routine testing on treatment and simulation equipment
- Maintain accurate patient treatment records and documentation
- Adhere to radiation safety standards, infection control procedures, and healthcare regulations
- Support emergency response protocols and patient safety initiatives as needed
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field required
- Current ARRT (T) Certification required
- Current New York State Radiation Therapy License required
- Current BLS Certification required
- Strong communication, patient care, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced oncology environment
- Adult Acute Care experience
- Tumor localization and treatment setup
- External Beam Radiation Therapy
- IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy)
- CBCT/kV/mV imaging experience
- Radiation dose calculation knowledge
- Radiation safety and PPE protocols
- Experience with custom molds, custom shields, wedges, and compensation filters
- Block cutting and portal cast experience
- Experience with lift/transfer devices and emergency response protocols
- Familiarity with Ethos or Varian treatment equipment preferred
