Athletic Director

Position Type: Part Time (2026-2027 School Year)

Reports To: Superintendent

Compensation: Salary contingent upon qualifications and experience


POSITION SUMMARY

Addison Community Schools is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered, and collaborative educational leader to serve as Part-Time Athletic Director (2026-2027 School Year). The Athletic Director will oversee and coordinate the district's interscholastic athletic programs while promoting sportsmanship, student achievement, compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and positive community engagement.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with coaches, students, parents, school administration, and community stakeholders to support a comprehensive and equitable athletic experience aligned with the mission of the district.


QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Prior experience in athletic administration (coaching, educational leadership, or related experience)
  • Knowledge of Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, officials, and community organizations
  • Experience with scheduling, budgeting, and event management
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to travel as necessary
  • Fingerprint and criminal background clearance is required


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Athletic Program Administration
    • Coordinate and supervise the districts middle school and high school athletic programs
    • Develop and maintain athletic schedules, transportation coordination, and facility usage calendars
    • Ensure compliance with all MHSAA rules, district policies, and state/federal regulations
    • Maintain accurate records related to athletic eligibility, participation, physicals, and insurance documentation
    • Oversee game-day operations, including; scheduling officials, security, event staffing, and facility readiness


  • Coaching Leadership & Supervision
    • Assist in the recruitment, recommendation, orientations, and evaluation of coaching staff
    • Promote high expectations for sportsmanship, professionalism, and student -athlete development
    • Facilitate regular communication with coaches regarding expectations, eligibility, safety, and program goal
    • Support coach professional development and compliance with training requirements
  • Student & Parent Relations
    • Promote positive student-athlete experiences emphasizing academics, citizenship, leadership, and wellness
    • Communicate effectively with students and families regarding athletic expectations, schedules, and concern
    • Address parents, student and community concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Fiscal & Equipment Oversight
    • Assist in preparation and oversight in athletic budgets
    • Monitor inventory, purchasing, maintenance, and replacement of athletic equipment and uniforms
    • Support fundraising efforts and ensure compliance with district financial procedures
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure student-athlete eligibility requirements are met and documented
    • Promote safe athletic environments and compliance with concussion protocols, emergency procedures, and risk management practices
    • Coordinate required training related to health, safety, and student supervision
  • Community & Public Relations
    • Foster positive relationships with neighboring school districts, officials, booster organizations and community partners
    • Promote athletic achievements through district communication channels
    • Represent the district at conference and MHSAA meetings as assigned
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee


WORK SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position with flexible hours requiring availability during evenings and occasional weeks to support athletic events and programming.


COMPENSATION

Salary will be contingent upon experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise.
