Project Engineering Manager

Manufacturing | On-site (Peru, IN)

Salary: $140,000 + Bonus Potential

Travel: Up to 50%

Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead capital projects and engineering initiatives across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for managing projects from concept through installation while driving operational improvements, supporting production efficiency, and overseeing project budgets and timelines.

This position is based in Peru, IN and supports a bacon processing and packaging facility. Candidates must be comfortable working in and around processing, packaging, and harvest environments. The role requires regular plant floor presence as well as travel to other manufacturing locations.

Travel expectations typically include being away from home approximately two weeks per month or several days each week depending on project demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead capital and engineering projects across multiple manufacturing facilities

  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, cost estimates, and justifications

  • Coordinate with plant leadership, vendors, contractors, and engineering teams

  • Support equipment installations, facility upgrades, and process improvements

  • Review engineering drawings, layouts, and technical documentation

  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget

  • Manage contractor activities and support contract administration

  • Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses for proposed projects

  • Provide project updates and status reporting to leadership

  • Support installation, startup, and commissioning activities

  • Lead and support engineering team development and collaboration

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of engineering/project management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments

  • 2+ years of leadership or team management experience

  • Strong project management and contract administration experience

  • Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling

  • Ability to apply engineering principles to operational and design challenges

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food processing, packaging, or other regulated manufacturing environments

  • Experience managing large capital projects and budgets

  • Strong process improvement and continuous improvement background

  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced manufacturing environments

  • Fully onsite role based in Peru, IN

  • Frequent travel required to support projects at multiple plant locations

  • Regular work both in office settings and on manufacturing floors
