This position is located at the Materials Lab in Maplewood, MN and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
This position exists to conduct and support research projects at both the state and national levels in the areas of non-destructive evaluation including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), pavement performance and material characterization, as well as providing support to districts. The employee is responsible for performing difficult research work and assisting districts in making engineering decisions in pavement evaluation, design and construction. The main responsibilities include developing work plans, designing research methods/procedures, collecting and analyzing field data, preparing research reports, and being a source of information to others in pavement evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). If obtaining licensure through comity (reciprocity), a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.
Experience in pavement design and materials, which includes bituminous mixture properties and soil mechanics.
Experience with pavement non-destructive testing.
Experience conducting and performing analysis in pavement response and pavement evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with pavement performance testing.
Experience in MATLAB programming, or similar.
