Surgical Assistant
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Duration: Contract Assignment
Shift: Day Shift
Hours: To Be Discussed
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Assistant to support surgeons during operative procedures while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong anatomical knowledge, excellent technical skills, and the ability to function effectively in fast-paced surgical environments.
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by positioning patients and maintaining exposure of the operative site
- Provide operative field visualization through retractors, suctioning, sponging, tissue manipulation, and irrigation
- Assist with hemostasis techniques, wound closure, suturing, skin stapling, dressing application, and securing drainage systems
- Perform harvesting of veins, radial arteries, tendons, bone, skin, and assist with plastic closure procedures under surgeon supervision
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control and operating room safety standards
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and surgical teams to support positive patient outcomes
- Stay updated on surgical technologies, specialty procedures, and clinical best practices
- Associate’s Degree in Surgical Assisting or completion of an accredited Surgical Assisting program required
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures required
- Strong eye-hand coordination and ability to stand for extended periods required
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills required
- Minimum 4 years of general surgical experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of specialty surgical experience preferred
