Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Refrigeration Engineer to support commercial and industrial refrigeration product lines. This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and improving refrigeration systems used in custom HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing system layouts and component selections, performing thermal and refrigeration calculations, and supporting troubleshooting efforts for both production and field issues. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing and production teams to support builds, testing, and validation of refrigeration systems, including prototype units. Responsibilities also include supporting engineering change requests, maintaining technical documentation and ERP records, and assisting with root cause analysis for refrigeration-related issues. This role collaborates heavily with electrical, mechanical, process engineering, quality, customer service, and leadership, while staying current on refrigeration codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
Experience designing, supporting, or troubleshooting commercial or industrial refrigeration systems
Strong understanding of refrigeration fundamentals (thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigerant cycles)
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, refrigeration schematics, and mechanical drawings
Experience working with compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, and related components
Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing, testing, or production environments
Working knowledge of refrigeration safety standards and best practices - Master of Science in Engineering or higher
Experience with CO2, ammonia, or other industrial refrigeration systems
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and applicable UL codes
Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools
Prior experience supporting HVAC or refrigeration product lines
