Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health

Location: New York, NY
Contract Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Hours Per Week: 34.5 Hours

Position Summary

A respected healthcare organization in New York is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support its Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health unit. This opportunity is ideal for a compassionate and clinically skilled behavioral health nurse who thrives in a fast-paced psychiatric care environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

The RN will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing services for adult patients experiencing acute mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care within an adult inpatient behavioral health setting
  • Perform ongoing mental and physical health assessments
  • Monitor, document, and report patient status changes accurately
  • Administer medications and therapeutic treatments as prescribed
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
  • Respond effectively to behavioral crises and psychiatric emergencies
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and healthcare staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Promote patient safety and ensure compliance with facility standards and protocols
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge processes

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Behavioral Health nursing experience
  • Active New York State RN License
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Strong communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in an inpatient psychiatric environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in adult inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health units
  • Knowledge of behavioral health documentation systems and EMR platforms
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient advocacy abilities
  • Ability to manage high-acuity situations with professionalism and compassion
