Position Overview
We’re seeking an experienced, highly detail-oriented Patternmaker to join our studio on a contract, per-project basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to create clean, production-ready patterns with precision and efficiency.
The ideal candidate understands not only how to draft patterns, but how garments move through the full development and production process. Accuracy, fit knowledge, and consistency are extremely important in this role.
Responsibilities
Develop first patterns from sketches, reference garments, or design direction
Create production-ready patterns with accurate cutters must, seam allowances, notches, grainlines, labeling, and construction considerations
Execute fit corrections and pattern revisions following fittings
Collaborate on garment development and construction solutions
Prepare patterns for sampling and small-scale production
Maintain organized files, patterns, and project materials
Communicate clearly regarding timelines, technical challenges, and development updates
Requirements
Strong professional experience in patternmaking and garment development
Ability to create clean, accurate, production-ready patterns independently
Excellent understanding of garment construction, fit, balance, and sewing techniques
Experience working with a variety of fabrics and garment categories
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
Ability to work efficiently while maintaining precision
Strong communication skills and openness to feedback
Experience with Adobe Illustrator and/or digital patternmaking software is a plus

Tech pack knowledge
Experience working with emerging brands or small production studios
Knowledge of grading and production workflows
Compensation
This is a contract, per-project role. Compensation varies depending on project scope, complexity, and turnaround time.
