Job Title: Director of Plant Operations
Location: Kansas City, MO 64132
Job Type: Full-Time | Days | No Weekends
Salary Range: $99,952 – $148,843 Annually (Based on Experience)
Bonus: Incentive Bonus up to 17.5%
Relocation Assistance: Available on a Case-by-Case Basis
The Director of Plant Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for all plant operations activities, facility maintenance, construction projects, environmental safety programs, and compliance initiatives. The role partners closely with executive leadership to maintain efficient hospital operations while ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, Life Safety, and Environment of Care standards.
This position supports operations across two healthcare facilities and requires travel between locations as needed.
- Direct all Plant Operations activities across multiple healthcare facilities
- Oversee facility construction, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects
- Manage vendor relationships and contractor performance
- Lead compliance efforts related to Joint Commission, Life Safety, and Environment of Care standards
- Develop and maintain safety, security, and regulatory compliance programs
- Coordinate hospital readiness and leadership during regulatory surveys
- Monitor operational performance metrics and implement process improvements
- Supervise departmental leadership and plant operations staff
- Oversee maintenance of critical hospital systems and facility infrastructure
- Manage clinical equipment service providers and operational contracts
- Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic operational initiatives
Bachelor’s degree required in one of the following or related fields:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Business Administration
- Security Management
- Industrial Safety
- Administration of Justice
Associate degree with significant relevant leadership experience may also be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of plant operations and construction experience required
- Prior healthcare facility experience required
- Experience with safety, security, and regulatory compliance programs required
- Strong knowledge of Joint Commission, Life Safety, and Environment of Care standards
- Experience leading hospitals through regulatory surveys required
- Minimum 7 years of leadership or administrative management experience required
- Union environment experience preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Class “A” Operating Engineers License preferred
