Programme assistant

The Y Hawke’s Bay is looking for a fun, energetic and reliable Programme Assistant to join our Y-Kids team supporting our OSCAR After School Care programmes. This role is primarily based in Hastings, however there may occasionally be opportunities to support programmes in Napier. About the Role * Approximately 15–20 hours per week * Generally working between 2:00pm – 6:00pm weekdays * Additional full-day work opportunities available during school holidays Our Y-Kids team play a vital role in creating safe, engaging and supportive environments for children across local schools. No two days are the same — from sports and games to cooking, crafts, outdoor play and helping children feel connected and supported. We’re Looking For Someone Who: * Has a genuine passion for working with children and making a positive impact * Is reliable, proactive and uses good common sense * Is energetic, fun-loving and enthusiastic * Works well as part of a team and communicates confidently * Enjoys sports, games, cooking, crafts and creative activities * Is safety conscious and able to support children in a positive environment * Is available to work additional hours during school holidays Requirements Full Driver Licence is essential Previous experience working with children is an advantage, but not essential Must be able to pass relevant police vetting and child safety checks Why Join The Y?
