Creature Comforts Cafe is looking for a GM / Cafe Manager who believes in the power of gathering spaces and the magic that happens when people connect over great coffee, good food, and genuine, delightful hospitality.

Who We Are

Creature Comforts Cafe is a vibrant, community-focused cafe serving coffee, beer, wine and light fare on Boulder's downtown Pearl Street. Our menu features many inspired and unique Asian flavors, drawing from the owner's own cultural heritage and experience. Our goal is to create a warm, inviting atmosphere where guests feel genuinely cared for and welcome. We are seeking kind and caring individuals who have a passion for hospitality and creating delightful guest experiences

Who You Are

You're someone who genuinely lights up when you see a space buzzing with connection and community. You understand that hospitality isn't just about the coffee (though ours is excellent) - it's about creating an atmosphere where people feel welcomed, valued, and inspired. You love working behind the counter and you also love operations. This role is a player-coach and work-time will be a split of bar shifts and managerial responsibilities.

You bring:

* 3+ years of management experience in hospitality, food service, or retail

* Previous experiencing hiring and training high performing, detail oriented teams.

* A player-coach with a natural ability to lead and inspire teams through authentic care and clear communication

* Strong operational skills - you can balance books, manage schedules, and ensure smooth daily operations

* A genuine passion for creating positive experiences for both guests and team members

* The flexibility to thrive in a dynamic, all-day cafe environment

* Experience with POS systems, inventory management, and basic financial reporting

Bonus points if you have:

* Coffee or beverage program knowledge

* Experience managing alcohol service

* A love for community building and local partnerships

What You'll Do

Create the Experience: Ensure every guest interaction reflects our values of delightful proactive hospitality, kindness, and community connection

Build and Lead Your Team: Hire, train, and develop team members who share our passion for genuine hospitality and community connection

Lead with Heart: Foster a team culture where everyone feels supported, inspired, and empowered to deliver exceptional experiences

Drive Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations including scheduling, inventory, vendor relationships, financial performance, and other operational needs as they arise

Build Community: Foster relationships with local partners, regulars, and newcomers alike - you'll be a key ambassador for what makes Creature Comforts special

Grow with Us: Take on additional projects and responsibilities that align with our mission and help strengthen our role as a positive force in the community

Responsibilities

* Supervise daily operations to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service.

* Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations to foster a productive team environment.

* Oversee food preparation and presentation to maintain quality standards in line with café offerings.

* Manage POS systems and general internet/stereo system

* Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.

* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health standards in all aspects of food handling.

* Develop and implement training programs for staff on customer service, food handling, and operational procedures.

* Collaborate with upper management on budgeting and financial planning for the café operations.

* Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly to enhance guest satisfaction.

* Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and employee development.

Skills

* Proven experience in food service management or restaurant management is essential.

* Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills.

* Familiarity with cash handling procedures and experience using POS systems (Dripos)

* Excellent leadership abilities with experience in team management and staff training.

* Strong customer service orientation with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.

* Knowledge of inventory control processes and budgeting principles.

* Experience in casual dining or fine dining environments is preferred.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.

* Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen environment.
