Position: Trainee Upholsterer / Furniture Manufacturing Improver Location: Central Auckland (Saint Johns) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm) Start Date: Immediate start available About Siba Design Siba Design is one of Auckland’s most reputable upholstery companies, situated in a fantastic central location. We recreate, restore, and manufacture premium custom furniture (sofas, chairs, headboards, and more) to an extremely high standard. We have a busy, friendly, and highly supportive workshop environment where we love to pass our knowledge down to the next generation of craftspeople. The Role Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding hands-on career, or have you worked in a furniture manufacturing environment and want to upskill? We are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Upholsterer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best in the business. You will be taught the art of domestic and commercial upholstery, furniture restoration, and custom fabrication from the ground up. What You Will Learn & Do * Progressively learn the skills of pattern making, fabric cutting, industrial sewing, and final fitting. * Work with top-quality materials on a huge variety of unique projects—no two days are the same. * Assist with preparing, stripping, and padding furniture frames. * Learn how to be accurate and economical with high-end fabrics. * Follow instructions closely while learning to work independently and safely. What We Are Looking For The Right Background: Some experience in a furniture manufacturing or practical, hands-on environment is preferred, but a strong willingness to learn is essential. Attention to Detail: You naturally take pride in your work and care about the little things. Great Attitude: You are self-motivated, positive, reliable, and bring a good sense of humour to a busy team environment. Physical Fitness: You must be physically fit to cope with the lifting, bending, and physical nature of workshop trade work.
