Biblical Literature, Church History, and Theology Faculty Position

Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks a full-time (nine-month)
Faculty member for its
Division of Christian Ministry on the Mount Vernon main campus, beginning Fall semester 2026. Compensation is
competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
A full complement of benefits is provided, including a health
care plan, retirement contributions, moving and tuition assistance (self and dependents). Rank will be dependent on education and relevant
experience.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons, providing each
student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabi
Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments and final exam assessments in a timely manner
Develop
web-based class sites for all classes and online classes as requested
Advise and mentor students in a professional and careful
manner
Identify and refer at -risk students to specific academic support services
Serve the University through committee,
task force, other team responsibilities (accreditation, academic area coordinator) as needed
Additional instructional or
administrative assignments based on departmental needs and individual qualifications
Expectations for the successful candidate:
Master's degree or higher in any of these areas: Biblical Literature, Church History, Religious
Studies, and/or Theology; PhD
candidacy or above preferred
Engaging classroom style with expertise in interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication
skills is essential 18 graduate hours or more in two of the areas of study listed above (ability to teach Greek a plus but not required)
Master of Divinity or specialized M.A. degree and Ph.D. (candidacy or above preferred)
Strongly prefer successful pastoral
ministry experience and ordination credentials
Prefer administrative experience, academic and/or ministry assessment experience, and
essential technological competencies relative to instruction and administrative tasks
Prefer teaching experience in person, on-line,
and/or hybrid formats
Prefer experience in diverse contexts or with diversity students/congregations; intercultural or
cross-cultural experience is helpful
Nazarene Elder in good standing preferred
