Description
The Pulaski Community School District is seeking a dedicated Autism Specialist – Special Education Teacher to support students with autism through structured, evidence-based practices using TEACCH and ABA. This role focuses on creating predictable learning environments, specialized intervention in learning, and collaborating with staff and families to promote student growth and independence. Qualifications:

  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction special education certification in the elementary school setting;

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with students with autism or other neurodevelopmental disabilities;

  • High levels of patience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations;

  • Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System);

  • Ability to collaborate with parents, teachers, and community members in order to help students meet individual goals;

  • Passion for teaching students with neurodiverse learning needs;

  • Must be willing to team teach and/or serve as a resource to general education teachers;

  • Training and/or experience in teaching social communication and expected behaviors;

  • Must have a desire to work in a collaborative, team approach in supporting students;

  • Willingness to incorporate interventions in classroom activities;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Strong planning skills;

  • Experience with developing and writing IEP's;

  • A desire to promote family involvement in school and community;
