Employment Type: 13 Weeks Contract (Possible Extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours/week (with occasional off-shift and weekend coverage)
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Supervisor to oversee nursing operations within the Maternal Child Health Department. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, improving staff performance, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
The Nurse Supervisor will collaborate with nurse managers and clinical teams to evaluate unit performance, implement process improvements, and support staff through effective leadership, documentation, and performance management strategies.
- Plan and implement programs to enhance patient care quality and nursing staff performance
- Monitor clinical operations and performance across Maternal Child Health units
- Collaborate with nurse managers to assess workflow efficiency and patient outcomes
- Develop and execute corrective action plans where necessary
- Establish and maintain systems for:
- Medication error tracking
- Staff counseling documentation
- Performance monitoring and reporting
- Provide leadership support and guidance to nursing staff
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and state regulations
- Participate in off-shift and weekend supervisory coverage as required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- Minimum 7 years of nursing experience
- At least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Primary Source Verification through New York State Department of Education (NYSED)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
- Director-level leadership experience
- Prior experience in Maternal Child Health
- Patient care management and quality improvement
- Staff performance evaluation and development
- Clinical performance monitoring and reporting
- Effective communication of corrective actions
- Development of documentation and record-keeping systems
- Medication error tracking and compliance
- Staff counseling and leadership
- Strong supervisory and decision-making skills
