Introduction:
The University of Hawaii System Office of the Vice President for Academic Strategy seeks a casual hire to work on Student Success projects related to curricular flexibility, student transfer and articulation, the Banner software transition, and the implementation of the new unified General Education program, as directed by the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and the Associate Vice President for Academic Programs and Policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide backend logistical assistance in support of curricular flexibility and student transfer and articulation across the UH System. Some of the priorities include (a) developing campus crosswalks for AP, IB, and CLEP exam credit equivalencies, (b) assisting the OVPAS with tasks related to the coordination and implementation of the new unified General Education program, (c) assisting the OVPAS in developing short- and long-term solutions to facilitate the seamless transfer of student credit in the new eBanner environment, and (d) helping the OVPAS manage its webpages in compliance with current and impending federal ADA regulations.
2. The logistical support to be provided by the Casual Hire includes, but is not limited to:
  • Compiling of data and information from websites, documents and other resources provided by the AVPAPP and/or AVPSA
  • Reviewing and making recommendations regarding select materials, websites and content
  • Tasks within the Ellucian Banner platform that support more automated and efficient transfer and articulation processes and jobs.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Business Administration or related field and 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for higher education administrative support; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of higher education administrative support as demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with higher education administrative support.
4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of higher education administrative support.
5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
8. Ability to follow through with instructions and meet stated deadlines.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational skills.

Desirable Qualifications:
1. Advanced knowledge and utilization of word processing and spreadsheet software.
2. Demonstrated ability to synthesize information from various sources and clearly present them verbally and in writing to a variety of sources.
3. Experience developing content for and maintaining websites and other online platforms.
4. Experience working within the Ellucian Banner Student Information System (SIS) platform.
