Hours: Part TimeContract: Self-EmployedSector: Education, St George’s WeybridgeWe are seeking an inspirational and enthusiastic self-employed music teacher who can teach across our 7 – 18 age range to join the thriving Music Department from September 2026.The ideal candidate will be an experienced singing teacher, able to teach contemporary vocal styles and musical theatre repertoire to a Grade 8 standard, underpinned by secure and healthy vocal technique. A strong emphasis will be placed on contemporary genres, alongside musical theatre performance. It is desirable that the candidate is also able to coach students who wish to accompany themselves whilst singing.Applicants should have flexibility with their teaching hours in operation from 8:05am to 5:50pm and availability to increase their lesson count. The successful candidates will be encouraged and supported in recruiting new pupils and must be available to increase teaching hours.Visiting teachers teach around 30 individual lessons to a pupil over the course of the academic year. Each lesson lasts for 35 minutes and timetables are organised by the visiting teachers to fit with the rota system.The ideal applicant will hold a music degree or equivalent qualification with experience of teaching from beginner to grade 8 standard within a school or college environment.St George’s is an outstanding school, opened in 1869 by the Catholic Josephites, with the aim of providing a perfectly balanced education for boys and girls. The College enjoys a fine reputation for the excellence and variety of its music. The Music Department comprises of the Director of Music and two further members of teaching staff, along with nineteen visiting teachers (self-employed). The Department houses a Recital Room, seating up to 110, with a permanent recording facility, three further small study/teaching rooms, eight practice rooms, and a storeroom for pupils to store their instruments, in addition to departmental instrument storage. Large scale choral and orchestral concerts take place in the College Chapel (seating 800) which houses a three manual organ by Hugh Banton (installed in 1999 and refurbished in 2022) and a Yamaha C7 Grand Piano.
