Site Safety Manager

job summary:
Join our power generation construction team in Marshalltown, IA, as a full-time Site Safety Manager representing the owner's interests. In this field-based role, you will provide critical safety oversight, monitoring contractor compliance and assessing the effectiveness of safety programs on a large, multi-year project. Your main focus will be risk identification and influencing safe work execution without directly managing craft labor or construction methods.

Candidates must possess 5-7 years of construction safety experience, preferably on large-scale energy or heavy-industrial projects, along with professional certifications like CHST, ASP, or CSP. You need a strong working knowledge of high-risk construction activities, including the ability to review lifting plans, JSAs, and critical work plans. Success requires a proven ability to influence without direct authority and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

responsibilities:

• Maintain a strong field presence to observe wind construction, civil work, turbine erection, and electrical activities.
  
  
• Identify emerging risks related to schedule, weather, and simultaneous operations, communicating concerns to leadership.
  
  
• Monitor EPC contractor compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 regulations and contractual safety expectations.
  
  
• Interface routinely with contractor safety teams to review hazard controls and participate in pre-task planning.
  
  
• Participate in contractor-led incident investigations and reviews of near-misses, prioritizing SIF (Serious Injury and Fatality) prevention.
  
  
• Provide routine written and verbal safety updates and documentation of leading indicators to project leadership.
