Wilmslow High School has two small SEND classes in KS3 and KS4 for students whose complex learning difficulties mean that they require an alternative curriculum for English, Maths, Science and Life Skills, alongside the mainstream curriculum for practical subjects. This is a specialist role working collaboratively with the Curriculum Team Leader – Learning Support, teaching staff and Learning Support Assistants in order to enhance the development and education of students, specifically for students in an identified house. You will work collaboratively with students, school staff, parents and external professionals to ensure that students’ individual SEND needs are being met within school and that they are provided with the support and strategies required to allow them to reach their full potential. To provide supervision for whole classes of pupils, including cover supervision as appropriate, to maintain continuity of pupil’s learning. You will teach small groups of students with Special Educational Needs ensuring their access to lessons and lesson content through appropriate clarification, explanations, equipment and materials.
