Job DescriptionThe Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine will be directly responsible for teaching, clinical duties, and scientific scholarship. Lead and facilitate skills labs for residents and students at our GME partner institutions, ensuring hands-on, competency-based learning experiences as needed. Design and deliver structured procedural training sessions to enhance residents and students clinical competencies as needed.Required QualificationsD.O./M.D. degree and AOA or ABMS Board Certification/board eligibility; and *able to be licensed in Tennessee by the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination/Tennessee Medical State Board.Preferred Qualificationsminimum of 5 years experience in clinical/academic medicine teaching and leadership. - *establish curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction and those aspects of student life which relate to the medical education process;
- *contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of courses and academic programs within the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM);
- *promote by precept and example a general atmosphere within the DCOM of respect for knowledge, thought and inquiry;
- *maintain intellectual integrity and to strive for academic excellence in his/her teaching;
- *promote clinical service and demonstrate adequate standards of professional linguistic expression in writing and speech;
- *have on file in the appropriate office an outline and list of the goals and objectives for each lecture;
- *carry out teaching, mentoring and clinical assignments and responsibilities effectively;
- *prepare evaluation tools for each course participated in;
- *meet classes according to published schedule;
- *commit to working in a professional multicultural environment that fosters diversity;
- *provide service by attending scheduled faculty meetings and by serving on appointed and or elected committees as required;
- *serve as an active member of the department, working closely with the department chair to further the department and College mission and vision
- *complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites;
- *provide clinical service/patient care and bedside teaching for students in the clinical setting;
- *serves as an example to learners and colleagues of appropriate professional behavior;
- *participate in clinic quality assurance and other service evaluation activities;
- *participate in scholarly activity;
- *serve as mentor to medical and other students
- *supervise students during authorized and approved patient care events including health fairs, sports physicals, or community outreach programs.
