This role sits within a Precision Genomics team that supports one of the most advanced, high-throughput genotyping laboratories in the organization. The lab plays a critical role in breeding and biotechnology pipelines by processing millions of samples each year. You will join a large, collaborative production team operating in a fast-paced, results-driven environment where communication, coordination between shifts, and mutual support are highly valued. This is a production-focused laboratory position centered on meeting daily and weekly genotyping targets under tight timelines, with a strong emphasis on execution, consistency, and efficiency in a high-throughput setting.

Responsibilities

  • Run manual and automated processes to support sequencing library preparation in a high-throughput environment.

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot automated laboratory equipment to ensure consistent and reliable performance.

  • Perform high-volume sample preparation and handling while maintaining accuracy and traceability.

  • Support qPCR and sequencing workflows, including routine setup, execution, and basic troubleshooting.

  • Carry out general laboratory operations such as reagent preparation, equipment checks, and routine maintenance tasks.

  • Maintain laboratory inventory by stocking supplies, ordering materials, and organizing consumables to support continuous production.

  • Assist with equipment upkeep, including routine cleaning, calibration support, and coordination of service as needed.

  • Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards to ensure data integrity and reproducibility.

  • Work independently on automation platforms and manage multiple workflows while meeting production timelines.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across shifts to ensure smooth handoffs, clear communication, and coordinated production efforts.

  • Contribute to a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment by adhering to safety guidelines and best practices.

  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and ownership in meeting daily and weekly genotyping targets.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.

  • 1-2+ years of experience in a laboratory or other fast-paced, high-throughput environment.

  • Foundational knowledge in biology, molecular biology, or chemistry applicable to laboratory workflows.

  • Hands-on laboratory experience, including sample handling and basic instrumentation.

  • Ability to operate and support automated laboratory equipment with attention to detail and consistency.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform high-volume tasks accurately and reliably.

  • Demonstrated reliability and consistency in attendance and performance, especially in time-sensitive operations.

  • Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency and meet production deadlines.

  • Mechanical or technical aptitude, with comfort troubleshooting equipment at a basic level.

  • Organizational skills to manage multiple workflows and priorities in a production environment.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work as a collaborative team member across shifts.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and move frequently around the laboratory during the workday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in high-throughput or production laboratory environments.

  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or data entry systems; experience with SAP is a plus.

  • Exposure to laboratory automation platforms or complex lab instrumentation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience in other fast-paced environments such as manufacturing, retail, food service, or logistics.

  • Proactive and organized work style with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong teamwork mindset and willingness to support colleagues across different functions and shifts.

  • Interest in building experience in automation, high-throughput lab operations, and genomics workflows.

  • Openness to cross-training across different laboratory functions and responsibilities.

  • Mindset focused on reliability, detail orientation, and continuous improvement in a production setting.

Work Environment

This is a 100% onsite laboratory role in a high-throughput production genomics lab that processes approximately 4 million samples per year. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, with a strong focus on meeting daily and weekly production targets. You will work as part of a large production team across multiple shifts, with frequent coordination and communication between team members. The role is physically active and requires regular movement around the lab, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 40 lbs, and handling high volumes of samples and consumables. The lab is highly automated, providing extensive exposure to advanced instrumentation, automation platforms, and genomics workflows. This is a Contract position based out of Chesterfield, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
