JOB DESCRIPTION

Optometrist, Clinic Float

Park Nicollet is looking to hire an Optometrist to join our Eye team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.


Position Summary:

Provides direct patient care within the Eye Department, involving advanced assessment, implementation, intervention, and evaluation skills to determine visual efficiency and performance, eye diseases, and other abnormalities of or affecting the eyes. Prescribes corrective lenses, vision therapy, environmental modifications, and medications as allowed by state law and Park Nicollet Medical Center standards. Administers high quality patient care in accordance with the Board of Optometry and Park Nicollet Medical Center standards. The incumbent will be expected to comply with the standards of Personalized Care and Customer Service including all applicable SHINES and job-specific standards.

Work Schedule:

Fulltime 1.0 FTE. Monday - Friday, Days. Float to various clinics with one Saturday clinic half day a month. Sites include St. Louis Park, Minneapolis, Brookdale, Golden Valley, Carlson, Maple Grove, Chanhassen, Shakopee, Burnsville, Bloomington and Lakeville.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

Doctor of Optometry from an accredit school of Optometry, and two or more years related optometric experience.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

The incumbent must maintain licensure to practice optometry in the State of Minnesota

This position requires credentialing, following the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Maintain standards of clinical skills and professional ethics established by the Board of Optometry. Strong clinical and human relation skills, effective oral and written communications, and an extensive knowledge in optical testing is also required.

Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and ensure safety of patients.

Proven proficiency in the operation of the following equipment: Phoropter; Retinoscope; Ophthalmoscope; Slit Lamp; Keratometry; Lensometer; Radioscope; Trial Lenses; Indirect Ophthalmoscope; Fusion Test; Color Blindness Test; Applanation Tonometry; Telephone; Fax Machine, CRT; and Tape Recorder.
