Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Buyer specializing in raw-material purchasing within the aerospace sector. This role is pivotal in securing competitive pricing, ensuring strong supplier performance, and guaranteeing reliable delivery. As a working leader, you will also train and guide other buyers, contributing to the professionalization of the buying function during an ERP transition.
Responsibilities
Conduct market research and evaluate suppliers.
Negotiate contracts and lead times.
Manage purchase orders and resolve quality or delivery issues to support production needs.
Drive process improvements and manage projects.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
Analyze data to reduce cost and mitigate risk.
Maintain strong supplier relationships.
Attend production meetings and ensure the accuracy of ERP/operating-system purchasing data.
Coordinate logistics and oversee new-hire onboarding.
Allocate work, monitor KPIs, remove bottlenecks, and foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
Essential Skills
5+ years of buyer experience, preferably in raw material purchasing (castings, forging, hardware).
Proficiency in ERP systems, with Visual being highly preferred.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to interpret blueprints.
Experience with supplier management in the manufacturing industry, specifically aerospace.
Supervisory skills and the ability to work independently.

Work Environment
This position operates onsite in a manufacturing environment located in Westfield. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling a 45-hour work week with a 40-minute lunch break. The role involves collaborative cross-functional partnering with operations and quality teams. The position offers high visibility across two sites with a significant annual spend, and involves leadership access and rapid decision-making cycles.

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
