Exercise Science Faculty and Program Director

Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks a full-time (9 month) Exercise Science Faculty
Member for its Division of
Health and Life Science on the Mount Vernon main campus, beginning Fall 2026. Rank is open. Compensation is
competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. A full complement of benefits is provided, including a health care
plan, retirement contributions and tuition assistance (self and dependents).
Responsibilities and expectations for this position
include:
- Leading curriculum and continuous improvement.
- Managing program assessment.
- Mentoring adjunct
faculty.
- Supporting advising, recruitment, and retention.
- Teaching a broad range of undergraduate exercise science
courses.
- Providing each student with clear course expectations through an approved, standardized syllabus.
- Preparing
all course materials and lessons.
- Grading assessments in a timely manner.
- Maintaining standard office hours to provide
assistance to students.
- Advising students majoring in Exercise Science and ensuring that their academic progress meets
requirements set by the institution.
- Working with upper-level students on applying to health professions programs.

Serving the university through committee participation and other assigned tasks.
- Potential opportunities to teach general
education courses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the successful candidate:
- Evangelical
Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit.
- Personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
- Understanding and
alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene
- Master's degree, Doctoral preferred, in Exercise
Science or a closely related field.
- Preference given to candidate with practice background in exercise science, kinesiology, or
related field.
- Leadership or administrative background preferred.
- A strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate
teaching in a liberal arts setting.
- Evidence of scholarly potential.
- Commitment to con tinued professional
development.
- Commitment to quality classroom instruction; evidence of successful previous teaching experience in higher education
preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work well with others, especially to
work alongside students and colleagues.
