Teaching Assistant (Direct Support Professional)
North Star Achievement Center – Louisville, KY

What You’ll Do
- Support people with individualized learning goals and day-to-day skill-building
- Assist with basic personal care and hygiene as needed
- Help implement and track educational, life-skills, and vocational programs
- Model positive social behavior and encourage community participation
- Keep people safe, maintain confidentiality, and respond appropriately in emergencies
- Participate in paid training and ongoing professional development
What We’re Looking For
- A passion for supporting people in building independence
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Reliability, patience, and a sense of humor
- Ability to follow individualized plans and work well both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to help across program areas
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Driver’s license, car insurance, and registration (for community outings)
- CPR/First Aid (training provided if needed)
- Successful background check and multi-panel drug test
Job Details
- Full-time or Part-time
- Pay: $31,000–$34,000 annually, based on experience and education
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift
