The Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney is one of the nation's largest municipal law offices. The Criminal Branch is responsible for the prosecution of misdemeanor cases filed throughout the City of Los Angeles.
The Assistant Supervisor will work closely with the Supervising Attorney (and other Assistant Supervising Attorneys, if any) on all aspects of the administration and operation of misdemeanor prosecutions in court, including training, management and supervision of all attorneys and support staff. Duties and responsibilities include:
Seven years of criminal law experience, including: a mastery of evidentiary issues and jury trials; a broad knowledge of criminal law and procedure; a thorough understanding of trial strategy and case and trial preparation; excellent judgment regarding the value and appropriate disposition of cases; excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with members of the public, law enforcement and the court system with tact, sensitivity and good judgment: strong research and writing skills; and a thorough understanding of Office policies, current legal trends, and issues affecting substantive criminal law and procedure and the administration of justice by our Office.

Work Location and Parking
The position is currently assigned to Pacific, located at 11701 S. La Cienega Blvd., Room 430, Los Angeles 90045 (Airport) as well as 100 Oceangate, Suite 510, Long Beach, CA 90802 (Long Beach). Position is subject to assignment at any location of the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney.
This position requires regular onsite work. Employer-provided parking is limited and may not be available for this classification. Employees may be responsible for securing and paying for parking at nearby facilities. Probation
Appointment to this exempt position (non Civil-Service) will be subject to a two year probationary period as required by Section 1050 of the City Charter. Successful completion of the two-year probationary period will result in tenure with the office.
Classification
For internal applicants only – Placement in this position will initially be as a lateral transfer with the selected candidate assuming the position in their current classification.
