Island Twist Athletics is a brand-new cheerleading, tumbling, and acro dance facility launching on James Island in the Charleston, SC area — and we’re looking for the coach who will help shape everything about it: the teams, the culture, the reputation, and the future of the program.

Island Twist is founded by a former UNC Chapel Hill cheerleader and all star athlete who trained with Top Gun All Stars, with additional roots in competitive dance, dance instruction, and cheer camp coaching. As a licensed occupational therapist, our founder also brings deep expertise in body mechanics, injury prevention, and safe athletic progression — creating a gym where athlete safety and long-term development truly come first.

Our founder is fully committed to Island Twist Athletics, present in daily operations, and actively involved in building the program alongside you. On the all star side, your expertise leads — you’ll play a major role in shaping competitive teams, building gym culture, and helping establish the standard for Island Twist Athletics from day one.

James Island currently has no dedicated all star cheer and tumbling facility — creating a major opportunity to build something special for athletes and families in the Charleston area. We’re offering a starting salary of $60,000+, with compensation designed to grow as the program grows.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Coach all star competitive teams across divisions, including stunting, tumbling, jumps, dance, and routine preparation
• Lead recreational classes and tumbling progressions for beginner through advanced athletes
• Build and structure competition routines that comply with USASF scoring and safety standards
• Partner with ownership on team culture, athlete development, and long-term program vision
• Travel to local, regional, and national competitions with teams
• Communicate proactively with athletes and parents to build trust and long-term retention
• Maintain a safe, positive, high-accountability training environment at all times

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum 2 years of all star coaching experience at a USASF-member gym
• Current USASF credentialing (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire)
• Current CPR/First Aid certification and ability to pass a background check
• Flexible availability — evenings, weekends, and competition travel are part of the role
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• A builder’s mindset — someone excited by the opportunity to help shape a growing program, build strong team culture, and make a lasting impact from the ground up

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE

• Experience coaching teams that have bid to The Cheerleading Worlds or The Summit
• An existing network of athletes or families in the Charleston or James Island area
• Comfort with social media and helping grow the Island Twist brand online
