Assistant Store Manager

Job Description

Position Overview

The Assistant Manager plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of Game On State supporting a positive and inclusive environment for guests, staff, and program participants. This is a hands-on, people-centered role that requires flexibility, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to ANEWAY's mission. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and passionate about community building.

This is a part-time position requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week, with availability on evenings and weekends required.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Guest Experience

  • Oversee daily operations of Game On State during assigned shifts, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment
  • Greet guests, answer questions, and provide excellent customer service to all visitors
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and point-of-sale systems
  • Monitor the space to ensure it is clean, safe, and fully stocked
  • Coordinate birthday party reservations, private event bookings, and walk-in guests
  • Handle guest concerns and resolve conflicts with professionalism and care

Team Support & Supervision

  • Support and coach team members, including neurodiverse employees, during shifts
  • Model inclusive, patient, and encouraging communication with all staff and guests
  • Assist in onboarding new team members and providing on-the-job guidance
  • Communicate operational needs, staffing issues, and guest feedback to the Executive Director

Programming & Community

  • Assist with planning and executing community events, social programming, and special activities
  • Champion ANEWAY's mission of inclusion in every guest and staff interaction
  • Support outreach and community-building initiatives as needed
  • Help maintain Game On State's social media presence through photos, posts, and updates

Administrative & Operational

  • Track inventory, submit supply requests, and help manage vendor relationships
  • Assist with scheduling coordination and shift coverage as needed
  • Support booking platform management (reservations, confirmations, follow-ups)
  • Provide input on operational improvements and guest experience enhancements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a customer-facing role (retail, hospitality, recreation, or similar)
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends on a consistent basis
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Genuine commitment to inclusion, equity, and ANEWAY's mission
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with neurodiverse individuals or in a human services, education, or nonprofit setting
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and online booking platforms
  • Experience with social media content creation
  • Knowledge of the Media, PA community

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions)

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Regular interaction with customers, staff, and vendors in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Part-time position: minimum 15 hours per week
  • Evening and weekend availability required; schedule will vary

FLSA Classification

This position is classified as Exempt under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). As an exempt employee, the Store Manager is not eligible for overtime pay and is paid on a salaried basis.
