Construction Site Superintendent

Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Site Superintendent to oversee and manage all on-site activities for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of construction processes, and the ability to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role involves coordinating subcontractors, managing site staff, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Management: Oversee daily construction operations, ensuring all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and schedules.

Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate the activities of subcontractors, laborers, and site personnel. Provide guidance and direction to ensure quality and efficiency.

Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules. Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed to meet deadlines.

Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed to high standards and in compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.

Safety Oversight: Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections.

Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise on-site, such as delays, unforeseen conditions, or material shortages.

Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status.

Budget Management: Monitor and control project expenses, ensuring work stays within budget. Review and approve vendor and subcontractor invoices.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, project progress, safety reports, and any issues that arise on-site.

Qualifications:

Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a similar role in commercial or residential construction.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required.

Skills:

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.

Knowledge of construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project).

Understanding of safety regulations and procedures.

Certifications: A valid driver’s license and certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour are mandatory.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions.

Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
