MSA Professional Services is shaping the future of transportation infrastructure, and we are seeking a full-time Project Engineer – Structural to join our growing bridge design team in one of our Midwest offices.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with experienced bridge designers and multidisciplinary transportation teams to deliver structural expertise on a wide range of state and federally funded bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects. You’ll experience the fulfillment of guiding projects from concept to completion while helping connect the communities we serve.

Responsibilities:
Structural Design & Technical Delivery
- Prepare structural design calculations for bridges and other transportation structures
- Support the design and delivery of bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects
- Develop repair alternatives based on field investigations and structural evaluations
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary transportation teams to develop efficient and constructible solutions
Field Investigations & Construction Support
- Perform field investigations to evaluate structural conditions and document findings
- Assist with structural assessments and rehabilitation recommendations
- Support project teams during design and construction phases as needed
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate effectively with clients, agencies, contractors, and the public
- Coordinate with Departments of Transportation and other stakeholders throughout project delivery
- Support business development efforts related to bridge infrastructure projects with current and future clients
Mentorship & Team Collaboration
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to graduate engineers
- Collaborate closely with experienced bridge engineers and multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- Emphasis in Structural Engineering preferred
Experience
- 4+ years of bridge design experience required
- Experience working with DOT transportation projects preferred
Licensure
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Skills
- Experience coordinating with Departments of Transportation
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred
- Strong structural engineering and bridge design capabilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Previous client relationship experience preferred
- Desire to work in a collaborative consulting environment

Eligible employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Compensation Range: $79,000 –$126,500 (commensurate with experience)
