Job Title: Operator III - Technical
Department: Production
Reports To (Title): Production Manager or Shift Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION
Oversee all extrusion and thermoforming operations that occur during the assigned
shift. These duties include following the production schedule and making sure all
supplies needed for production runs are available. Perform other related duties as
assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Safety
? Must wear all assigned safety personal protective equipment, may be
position specific, at all times as required by Sabert policy.
? Adheres to all safety policies and reports
? Must be trained and able to perform proper lockout-tag out procedures
? Must be trained and able to perform proper confined space entry
? Must be properly trained to use hand tools that are required to perform
operator duties
? Must be trained in proper operation of power tools required for daily duties
? Should be first aid trained as a first responder
? Trained Behavior Based Safety Champion
? Certified trainer for one Sabert safety program
? Must be able to perform 5 min safety talks
? Must be able to train new employees to run a
extrusion\thermoforming\trimming line
Cleanliness
? Must keep entire line in a neat and clean manner using 6S principles and
good manufacturing practices.
Material Handling
? Must be able to set up and operate material blender system to keep
production line supplied with material.
? Be able to start up and operate PET material crystallizer.
? Be able to start up and operate PET material dryer.
? Knowledgeable in the startup and operation of a material weigh hopper
? Must be able to perform a complete color change on the material handling
system.
? Must be able to startup and operate the vacuum loading system including the
vacuum control panel.
? Knowledgeable in the operation, function, and cleaning requirements of the
dust control system.
? Must be able to perform a complete material change on the material handling
system.
? Should be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with the material
handling system with minimal help from maintenance.
Extrusion
? Must be able to perform a cold start of the extruder
? Must be able to properly shut down the extruder
? Must know how to make the proper die bolt adjustments
? Must know how to perform a screen change when required
? Must know how to shim the extrusion die for the proper sheet width
? Must know the proper way to measure and set up the roll gap of the
extrusion system
? Must know how to properly measure and set up the die gap for proper sheet
thickness
? Must be able to properly clean the roll stack rolls
? Must be able to perform a material change on the extruder.
? Must be able to perform a color change on the extruder
? Should be able to perform advanced troubleshooting on both process and
mechanical issues with a particular product run
? Knowledge of how to extrude PET, CPET, PLA, and Polypropylene material
Thermoforming
? Must be able to startup the thermoformer
? Must be able to shut down the thermoformer
? Must be able to calculate and adjust for the proper line speed
? Must be able to adjust and set the proper heat profile for the material and
product that is to be run on any thermoformer
? Must be able to create a recipe of former settings for a product run
? Must be able to recall a recipe for production run
? Must be able to properly calculate and adjust the chain rail settings
? Must be able to adjust former settings to achieve quality parts
? Must be able to perform a cavity change on a form tool
? Must be able to perform a mold change on the thermoformer
? Should be knowledgeable in the proper way to adjust the head and platens
on the thermoformer
? Should be able to perform advanced troubleshooting on both process and
mechanical issues with a particular product run
Trim Press
? Must be able to startup the trimpress
? Must be able to shut down the trimpress
? Must be able to make proper feed adjustment changes
? Must be able to properly use the die handler
? Must know how to properly peen a trim die
? Must be able to make canopy adjustments on the trimpress
? Must know how to operate the under press grinder
? Must know how to operate the sheet grinder
? Must know how to clean out the under press grinder
? Ability to use SAP for the following functions – operator activity reporting,
resin issue, box inventory lookup, finished goods confirmation, and
production work order release.
Quality
? Must be able to check moisture content on PET material using moisture
analyzer
? Must make sure that all product that is produced meets or exceeds minimum
standards for quality packaged finished goods
? Must be able to use part ID measurement tools and record quality
information from those checks
? Correct any quality problems immediately when notified by packers
? Perform quality checks, such as part weight, proper form, lid fit, sheet
thickness, water leak test, and CPET oven test, on production at specified
intervals and record results on proper paperwork.
? Must abide by all food safety regulations such as Good Manufacturing
Practices and sliver control procedures
? Ability to read the production schedule, look up box locations in SAP, and
check box inventory for box labeling requirements

EXPERIENCE
? Prior Extrusion and/or Thermoforming experience
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
? Forklift Certified by Sabert Qualified Trainer
