Department Information


Our Facilities Services Staff is an essential part of Adams State University success. The Structural Trades staff consists of individuals who are capable of a wide variety of skills to perform a full range of complex building maintenance tasks.

Description of Job


The primary responsibilities of this position are Provides service calls and repairs at a university campus, utilizing plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, DOC controls, fire alarm systems. Install repair or renovate structures utilizing carpentry, painting and finishing skills.

Provide same day service and repair work on furniture, cabinets, doors, walls, floors, windows, roofs,

plumbing, and other building systems and components.

*Others Duties: *

  • Renovating, remodeling, or reconstructing offices dormitories, classrooms, etc.
  • including disassembly, demolition, framing, drywall, painting, flooring, carpentry, glazing, concrete, masonry, and roofing using blueprints, schematics and plans.
  • Perform routine entry level maintenance on the campus plumbing systems including supply and drain line repair and replacement, hardware repair or replacement (fixture, p-traps, valve stems, garbage disposals, drain lines etc.), clear clogged drain lines by use of plunger or snaking as necessary.
  • Perform routine entry level maintenance on air handler units, roof top units, and heating systems. change filters and belts, lubricate, etc.
  • Perform routine entry level maintenance repairing minor electrical problems including but not limited to ballasts, switches, receptacles, device covers, breakers, controls for motors, and equipment. ##

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *

Experience Only:

Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years

Necessary Special Requirements

Possession of a current valid State of Colorado Driver's license is required for this position. The successful applicant must maintain the ability to independently travel in the performance of job-related duties. * Please submit a copy of your Driver's License with your application.*

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five + years experience with construction and maintenance in a campus environment to include plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and H.V.A.C. maintenance.
  • Experience performing duties in an academic k-12 or higher education setting.
  • Experience with safety rules and regulations.

Conditions of employment:

An essential function of this position requires exertion of up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects (i.e. lifting equipment, pushing grounds equipment, removing snow, etc.). It also requires constant or frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching. Successful candidate must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions on labels, machinery and in manuals, etc. Also, must be able to interpret written directives, policies, guidelines and memos.
