Data Center Mechanical QA/QC Inspector / Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Mechanical QA/QC Professional to oversee the installation, inspection, and commissioning of critical cooling and HVAC infrastructure. This role ensures all mechanical systems meet strict design specifications, safety standards, and uptime requirements. You will manage quality control processes from factory testing through Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
Key Responsibilities
Technical Inspections & Quality Control
System Inspections: Oversee installation quality for chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, and air handling equipment.
Piping & Ductwork: Witness and validate hydrostatic pressure testing, weld inspections, and insulation integrity.
Airflow Management: Verify hot/cold aisle containment setups, raised floor seals, and overall airflow balancing.
Deficiency Management: Identify, log, and track mechanical punch-list items using platforms like Procore, BIM 360, or Fieldwire until full resolution.
Commissioning Support (L1-L5)
L1-L3 Foundations: Perform Pre-Functional Checklists (PFCs) and component-level verification.
L4-L5 Execution: Lead Functional Performance Testing (FPT) and participate in Integrated Systems Testing (IST) to validate building-wide failure scenarios.
BMS Integration: Coordinate with controls teams to verify correct sensor calibration and mechanical alarms in the Building Management System.
Documentation & Factory Testing
Vendor Validation: Conduct Factory Witness Testing (FWT) at manufacturer facilities to sign off on major equipment prior to site delivery.
Document Review: Audit submittals, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, welding logs, and as-built drawings for strict compliance.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience & Education
Industry Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of QA/QC or commissioning experience specifically within mission-critical environments (data centers, semiconductor plants, or pharmaceutical facilities).
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent technical trade background.
Technical Skills
Standards Expertise: Deep knowledge of ASHRAE data center cooling guidelines, SMACNA duct standards, and NFPA regulations.
Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with construction management and QA/QC software (Procore, BIM 360, Autodesk Build).
Preferred Certifications
Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP).
ASME weld inspection certifications or AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) status.
LEED AP credentialing.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
