Minister of Music - Impact Church Metro Detroit

Position Overview

Impact Church Metro Detroit is seeking a passionate, spiritually mature, and highly skilled Minister of Music to lead and develop the worship ministry of our growing church community. The ideal candidate will cultivate an atmosphere of worship that helps people encounter God while building, leading, and empowering a healthy and effective worship team culture.

This individual should possess strong vocal and instrumental abilities, leadership experience, team-building skills, and a heart for serving the local church.

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership

• Lead the worship ministry with spiritual maturity, integrity, and humility.
• Foster a spirit of worship and encourage spiritual growth among worship team members.
• Help create meaningful worship experiences that align with the vision and culture of Impact Church.
• Collaborate with pastoral staff and ministry leaders to support the overall ministry direction of the church.

Worship Leadership & Service Planning

• Lead worship during weekend services, rehearsals, and special events.
• Develop and coordinate worship service flow in partnership with church leadership.
• Select music that supports the vision, theology, and culture of the church.
• Arrange and adapt songs as needed, including vocal arrangements and transitions.
• Incorporate tracks, Ableton Live, click tracks, loops, and other worship technology as appropriate.
• Help create engaging and distraction-free worship environments.

Team Development & Administration

• Recruit, train, schedule, and disciple worship team members and musicians.
• Oversee rehearsals and ensure the worship team is spiritually and musically prepared.
• Provide coaching and feedback to vocalists, musicians, and worship leaders.
• Maintain consistent communication with team members and volunteers.
• Organize worship ministry resources, charts, Planning Center materials, equipment, and schedules.
• Work closely with audio, video, lighting, and production teams to ensure smooth service execution.

Creative Collaboration

• Participate in creative planning meetings for services, events, and special productions.
• Assist in developing creative worship moments and ministry experiences.
• Support the church’s mission to help people know God, find freedom, discover purpose, and make a difference.

Essential Qualifications

Spiritual & Character Qualifications

• A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Strong spiritual maturity and a heart for ministry.
• A lifestyle that reflects biblical values and Christian integrity.
• Alignment with the vision, culture, and beliefs of Impact Church Metro Detroit.

Musical Qualifications

• Strong vocal ability and confidence leading congregational worship.
• Proficiency in at least one instrument (keyboard or guitar preferred).
• Experience leading contemporary worship in a church setting.
• Ability to teach, arrange, and communicate music effectively.
• Familiarity with tracks, Ableton Live, Planning Center, and other worship ministry tools.

Leadership Qualifications

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead volunteers with encouragement, clarity, and excellence.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced ministry environment.
• Experience building and developing teams preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience serving in a worship leadership role at a church of similar or larger size.
• Experience leading both vocalists and musicians.
• Experience working collaboratively with pastoral and production teams.
• Familiarity with multi-service worship environments preferred.

Position Details

• Salary: Negotiable
• Position Type: Full-time if combined w/ additional role (i.e. graphic designer, facilities manager, etc.). Music Minister role is also available as a Part-Time position
• Reports To: Lead Pastor / Executive Pastor
• Location: Novi, Michigan
• Church Size: >500
