Job Title: Outreach Early Childhood Programmer
Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Branch: Covington, 502 Scott St, Covington, KY 41011
Pay Range: $18.03 - $25.45 per hour


Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week), with a schedule that may include any day of the week, including days, evenings, weekends, and the holidays the Library is open.

We’re looking for an Outreach Early Childhood Programmer who is energetic, creative, and passionate about inspiring a love of learning in young children. If you enjoy bringing storytimes and early literacy experiences into classrooms and community spaces, building strong relationships with educators and caregivers, and ensuring all children have access to library resources regardless of location, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to support early learning and make a lasting impact across Kenton County.


What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain relationships with preschools, childcare centers, early learning partners, and community organizations
  • Deliver engaging outreach services, including early literacy programs, storytimes, and visits to partner sites
  • Provide classroom collections and rotating materials that support early learning and partner needs
  • Promote early literacy resources and support kindergarten readiness for caregivers, educators, and families
  • Meet patrons where they are by offering flexible, innovative access to library resources and services
  • Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the Library and Outreach Services in the community
  • Answer questions and assist patrons with information needs in a variety of settings
  • Collaborate with library staff and community partners on programs, initiatives, and committees
  • Evaluate programs and services to continuously improve impact and effectiveness, and complete monthly outreach reports
  • Perform other job-related tasks as needed to support department operations.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Education and/or experience in Early Childhood preferred.
  • KDLA certification (or ability to obtain) at the level required for this position, and the ability to maintain it.
  • Demonstrated customer-service experience, patience under pressure, and comfort interacting with a wide range of patrons.
  • Work at other KCPL locations required.
  • Valid driver’s license and means of transportation to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Following training, must drive and park a 28-foot RV truck and other Library vehicles.
